We got a chance to explore some learning software today. Here are some of our favorite finds for you to try at home!
Hi this is Omar! We learned with our number grid this week. We colored it in with crayons by the 10's and 5's. We read about the Big Bad Pig and the Big Bad Wolf. We did a different greeting, the one minute greeting. We learned about pumpkins. And we compared them to apples. We have a pumpkin in our class it is big and orange and Mrs. Nagorski named it Earl. It was a good week!
Today our class (as well as the rest of the school) participated in the Million Misfit Sock March against bullying. We showed support for all the things that make us unique and different by wearing mismatching socks. I am proud of the support that our class showed!!
You can learn more here: Million Misfit Sock March Yesterday was our first full computer lab session! Mrs. McNew gave us an orientation to the computer lab, how to use the computer, and some tools that we can use while we are there (or at home!). The students got a chance to log into their Planet Turtle account and explore. Planet Turtle is an instructional math website that uses video game technology- therefore making it more engaging for our students. Each student is assigned there own unique log in which will be coming home in today's Wednesday folder. I am able to set the level and even curriculum that I want them to be working on while logged in. You can learn more about Planet Turtle here http://www.mhecdi.com/pt_about.html.
Another new and exciting web tool that we are learning to use is Symbaloo. You can access Symbaloo by going to the Madison web page and clicking on "Madison Elementary Student Page". This will take you to the Madison Symbaloo Webmix, just click on 1st grade. You will see tiles full of different resources your first grader can use! Stay tuned later this week for our first student blogger, Omar! FINALLY! Today we took our first trip to the computer lab! Although there was some scheduling confusion, and our time was a bit shortened, we enjoyed playing and learning on Starfall (www.starfall.com).
